CLINTON H. SHEEHAN has held the position of Assistant Professor of Physics in the Department of Physics at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas since August of 2000. In addition to his teaching responsibilities there, Dr. Sheehan is building a research program for the study of chemical and physical processes in space plasmas.
Dr. Sheehan received his B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Physics in 1994 from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. He subsequently received his M.Sc. (1996) and Ph.D. (2000) degrees in Physics, also from The University of Western Ontario. Dr. Sheehan's graduate research included a combination of experimental and theoretical studies of interactions between molecular ions and electrons with applications to space plasmas.
Since accepting his faculty position at Ouachita Baptist University, Dr. Sheehan has worked in collaboration with several international space and atmospheric research groups on a number of different studies. Recent projects have focused on understanding the dissociative recombination of molecular ions in planetary ionospheres within the context of compositional studies. Dr. Sheehan is currently investigating the effects of time-varying electric fields on ionospheric ion velocity distributions. In the near future, he plans to commence a study of the dissociative excitation of molecular ions in planetary ionospheres.
Dr. Sheehan is married and enjoys camping, hiking, weightlifting and competing in Scottish Heavy Events.
